Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frankie Riiser! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jaakko Kilpinen! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kilpinen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Riiser moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Riiser shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kilpinen as he avoids it easily. The fight moves into the clinch position. Riiser is trying to drag Kilpinen to the mat but Kilpinen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Kilpinen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Riiser instigates a clinch. Riiser tries for a takedown but Kilpinen manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Riiser. That's going to take a lot out of him. Riiser jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kilpinen walks away with a smile on his face. Riiser gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Kilpinen takes a swing at Riiser's ribcage but misses. Kilpinen moves into the clinch. Riiser's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Kilpinen with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Kilpinen lands on the inside with an uppercut. Riiser wants a takedown.
Riiser tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kilpinen gets underhooks to prevent Riiser's takedown attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kilpinen landing knees to the head.
It looks like Frankie Riiser has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilpinen lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Kilpinen manages to break the clinch.
Riiser shoots in for a takedown but Kilpinen shows good takedown defense. Riiser is breathing heavily. Riiser takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Kilpinen is looking to clinch. Kilpinen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Riiser fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kilpinen avoids it really well and circles away. Kilpinen is looking to clinch but Riiser is avoiding it.
Riiser takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Crack! Kilpinen connects with the perfect overhand right and Riiser falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Kilpinen!
