PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ce Ca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Rudd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rudd has chosen Bob Marley - Get Up Stand Up as his entrance music. Ce Ca has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ce Ca!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Rudd!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ca lands a high kick!
Nice body kick from Ca.
Ca misses the shot to the body.
Rudd scoring well with a low kick there.
Ca misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A head kick misses from Rudd.
Ca misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ca misses with a kick to the body.
Rudd shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ca as he jumps to the side.
Rudd shoots in looking for a takedown. Ca tries to sprawl out of it but Rudd keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ca manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rudd takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Rudd fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ce Ca has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Rudd.
Rudd throws a lazy body kick
and Ca counters with a left to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rudd instigates a clinch.
Ca pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Ca tries to land knees in the clinch but Rudd avoids the damage to the body.

Ca misses with an elbow strike.
Ca scores with a nice hook to the head.
Rudd tries to pull guard but Ca won't allow it.
Ca throws a punch but it's blocked by Rudd.

Ca keeps control of Rudd as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Ca lands with a light punch inside.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ca creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Rudd drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ca gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Ca working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Ca lands an elbow inside that Rudd shrugs off.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ca scores with a shot to the side of Rudd's head.
Rudd dodges an elbow strike from Ca.
Rudd is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ca to keep the fight standing.
Rudd blocks an uppercut.

Rudd has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ca uses from the top position.
Rudd looking for a sweep. Not yet Rudd, not yet.
Ca postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ca trying to control the position from guard on top but Rudd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rudd working for a triangle but Ca defends it easily.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rudd holds on and takes a little breather.
Rudd keeping moving, preventing Ca from controlling successfully.
Rudd looking to control.

Rudd isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ca stacks Rudd on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ca!
Rudd tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Ca easily slips into full mount!

Rudd tries to hold on but Ca pushes him away.
Ca thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Rudd sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Rudd is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rudd is trying to control but can't.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rudd is pressing down on Ca's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ca knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rudd on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ca stands and steps away. Rudd gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ce Ca dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Rudd fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ca sprawls well initially but Rudd persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ca is not content to let Rudd control the position.
Ca has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rudd is working away from the top position though.
Rudd passes into side control, despite Ca's attempt to control the position.

Rudd tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rudd trying to control the action but Ca is working from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Ca's face as Rudd controls the position.

Rudd wants to control but Ca is keeping him busy.
Rudd is working Ca over with some ground and pound from side control.
Ca tries to improve position but can't.
Rudd working the body and head with strikes.
Ca is not content to let Rudd control the position.

Rudd looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Ca is avoiding damage well.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rudd is trying to ground and pound but Ca uses the momentary lack of control by Rudd to regain half guard.

Rudd is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ca doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rudd.

Rudd is looking for a kimura but Ca is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rudd to get the leverage.
Rudd controlling the pace.
Ca holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Rudd is trying to control. Ca wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Rudd seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ca does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rudd is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ca still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ca has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rudd manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Rudd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Ca throws a head kick that misses.

Chris Rudd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ca feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rudds jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Ca dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rudd.
Ca closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Ca lands with a kick to the temple. Rudd shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Rudd dives in and grabs Ca's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ca pushes down on Rudd's head and hops out.
Rudd throws a nice looking combination but Ca bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ca keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ce Ca has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Rudd.
Ca thuds his shin into the meat of Rudd's side.
Ca misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chris Rudd is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The fighters circle momentarily. Ca darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Rudd avoids the body shot from Ca.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ca looks for the body kick but Rudd saw that one coming.

Rudd tries to keep at a distance but Ca has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rudd tries to pull guard but Ca holds him up against the cage and eventually Rudd drops back down to his feet.
Ca lands a nice shot to the body.
Ca pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Rudd is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rudd avoids a wild elbow strike from Ca.
A left hand lands to the body for Ca.
Rudd takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ca fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Ca lands an elbow inside.
Rudd blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Rudd is trying to pull guard but Ca turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ca gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Rudd drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ca lands a left hand that snaps the head of Rudd backwards.
Rudd managing to block the knees to the body from Ca.
Rudd wants to break free but Ca has control.
Rudd is working for takedown but Ca is calmly controlling the position for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ca doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ca lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Ca prevents Rudd from breaking the clinch.
Ce Ca has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Rudd tries to pull guard but Ca forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Rudd is trying to pull guard but Ca has him pressed against the cage.

Ca misses with a hook to the ribs.
Rudd is looking to break free of the clinch but Ca has double underhooks.
Rudd tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ca just stands there and leans against the cage.
Ca scores with a nice hook to the head.

Ca swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ca lands with a short shot to the head.


Rudd is rocked!
Ca lands an elbow just above Rudd 's eye.
Rudd is still on wobbly legs! Can Ca finish him?
Rudd jumps guard but Ca stands there with Rudd around his waist. Rudd gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ca unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Rudd! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Ca is unloading with more strikes now! Rudd drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ce Ca!
