Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Marcos! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marcos tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Silva is able to avoid easily. Marcos is looking to slow Silva down with leg kicks. Rafael Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silva looking to score a takedown here. Marcos is defending well but Silva drives through and ends up in Marcos's guard. Silva trying to control but Marcos is working from the bottom. Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Silva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marcos's guard. Silva is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Silva is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Marcos! Silva wants to finish this one by submission but Marcos is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Silva. This has been an exciting period of action! Silva looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Marcos is forced to tap! Great finish!
