Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Henry Ballard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duck Sweeney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sweeney has chosen Turnt Down - Hodgy Beats as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Henry Ballard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duck Sweeney!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ballard shoots in and bounces Sweeney off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ballard tries to free his leg and advance position but Sweeney is retaining full guard.
Sweeney trying to keep a closed guard but Ballard is proving a slippery customer.
Ballard wants to pass the guard but Sweeney is keeping the position.
Sweeney not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ballard is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Duck Sweeney.
Sweeney closes the distance looking to clinch
and Ballard counters with a series of strikes. Sweeney will be more careful next time no doubt.

Ballard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ballard thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sweeney's head.
Ballard is looking to advance position but Sweeney won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ballard seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sweeney really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ballard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ballard missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ballard thows a huge punch but Sweeney dodges it nicely.

Ballard is taking a breather. Sweeney says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ballard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Henry Ballard wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Ballard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sweeney tries to buck Ballard off but Ballard is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ballard looks up at the clock and then as Sweeney takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ballard smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Ballard fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Sweeney dodges the ground and pound from Ballard.
Ballard moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ballard has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Ballard dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ballard fails with a takedown attempt.
Ballard is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sweeney.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ballard shoots in and drives through. Sweeney sprawls well.

Ballard throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Sweeney gets caught napping as Ballard dives in and scores a takedown. Sweeney manages to retain guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ballard sizes up Sweeney with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sweeney tries to clinch up.

Sweeney closes the distance and clinches.
Sweeney has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Ballard is trying to trip Sweeney. He has hold of a leg but Sweeney is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ballard persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ballard is pushing down on Sweeney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sweeney is fighting to maintain full guard but Ballard has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sweeney is in trouble now - Ballard has advanced to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ballard looking to finish Sweeney with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sweeney!

Ballard lands a nice shot to the head.
Ballard landing punches.
Ballard lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Sweeney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ballard looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!

It looks like Duck Sweeney has been cut.
Sweeney is desperately trying to improve his position but Ballard has a good base and remains in mount.
Ballard fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


That has opened up Duck Sweeney's cut even more.
Ballard landing strikes from the mount.


The cut above Duck Sweeney's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Duck Sweeney's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Henry Ballard!
