PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Predir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wei Shen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wei Shen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Predir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wei Shen!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shen lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Shen moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Predir pushes Shen up against the cage in a clinch.
Shen working hard to break the clinch.

Predir wants the takedown. Shen is fighting it off but Predir persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Shen's guard against the cage.

Shen is working an open guard so Predir takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Shen.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Predir closes the distance and clinches.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Shen has had enough of the clinch but Predir keeps him there for the moment.
Shen trying to land knees to the body.

Predir lands a takedown into guard.
Predir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Predir stands and throws Shen's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Predir thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Predir working away.
Shen being controlled for a moment.
Shen is trying to control Predir's posture but Predir avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Check out the look on Predir's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Shen takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Predir is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Shen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Predir creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Predir staying calm.
Predir has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Shen struggling a bit here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Predir controlling the position.
Predir grinds an elbow into Shen's temple.

Predir has hold of Shen's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Shen seems comfortable defending it but Predir has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Shen is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Shen is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Predir couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jason Predir!
