Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joao Da Souza! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tadas Menelaos! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Da Souza keeps the fight on the outside. Da Souza looks to throw the jab but Menelaos is out of range. Da Souza shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Menelaos is trying to defend but Da Souza finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Menelaos keeps control of the position for the meantime. Da Souza throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Menelaos is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Da Souza's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Da Souza's back! I really don't envy Da Souza right now.
Da Souza has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
That's one minute gone in the round. Menelaos not allowing Da Souza to control his hands. Menelaos controls the position. Da Souza trying to control the position but Menelaos manages to sink in the hooks. Da Souza is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Da Souza trying to control but not successfully. Good control from Menelaos.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Da Souza surviving as best he can, preventing damage. Da Souza can't escape the position.
Menelaos is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Da Souza ducks right into an uppercut from Menelaos.
It looks like Joao Da Souza has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Da Souza closes the distance and clinches up with Menelaos, looking for a takedown. Da Souza pushes Menelaos against the cage but Menelaos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Menelaos lands a really nice looking cross but Da Souza seems unphased.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Da Souza is defended easily by Menelaos. Da Souza bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Menelaos comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Da Souza falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Da Souza was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tadas Menelaos! Tadas Menelaos retains his heavyweight title! Tadas Menelaos tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
