Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vyktor Kovalevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Goreshnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vyktor Kovalevsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Goreshnikov!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovalevsky looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Goreshnikov moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Vyktor Kovalevsky has been cut.
Goreshnikov throws a head kick but Kovalevsky moves out of range.
Goreshnikov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Goreshnikov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Goreshnikov thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kovalevsky tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Goreshnikov swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kovalevsky is now in Goreshnikov's guard. A big mistake from Goreshnikov there, giving up the dominant position!

Kovalevsky has gone for a leg lock! Goreshnikov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kovalevsky's guard.

Goreshnikov stands up from Kovalevsky's guard - Goreshnikov perhaps looking for a knockout.

Goreshnikov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kovalevsky was covering up waiting for the punch and Goreshnikov finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kovalevsky has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kovalevsky will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Goreshnikov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kovalevsky holds on and takes a little breather.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Goreshnikov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Goreshnikov should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Kovalevsky seems to be working for a kimura but Goreshnikov defends the submission attempt.
Goreshnikov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kovalevsky looks for a takedown but Goreshnikov sprawls well.
Goreshnikov pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kovalevsky back to the cage. Goreshnikov follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Kovalevsky closes the distance and clinches up with Goreshnikov, looking for a takedown. Kovalevsky pushes Goreshnikov against the cage but Goreshnikov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kovalevsky gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kovalevsky shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Goreshnikov as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vyktor Kovalevsky. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Goreshnikov tries to sprawl but Kovalevsky drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kovalevsky's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Kovalevsky is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Goreshnikov is just riding it out for now. Kovalevsky eventually gives up the hold.

Goreshnikov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kovalevsky looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kovalevsky looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kovalevsky!

Kovalevsky wants to lay and pray for a moment but Goreshnikov keeps working.

Kovalevsky is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Goreshnikov is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Ivan Goreshnikov is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Kovalevsky slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kovalevsky is looking to take a break and control but Goreshnikov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ivan Goreshnikov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Goreshnikov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
