PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Burcev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guile Sin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Burcev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Guile Sin!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burcev tries a head kick but it misses.

Burcev darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Sin is trying to stand.

Burcev stands up out of the half guard.
Burcev throws a right and a left that both miss.
Burcev tries to land a body kick

and Sin counters with a single leg into guard. Burcev didn't expect that.
Sin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Burcev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sin postures up.
Sin prevents Burcev from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Sin is working Burcev over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Burcev is trying to keep Sin in close.
Sin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Sin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Burcev manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sin has Burcev in his guard.
Sin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burcev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Burcev trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sin's guard.
Burcev could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Burcev content to stall in guard here.
Burcev wants to control from the top but Sin keeps moving.
Sin looking to control.
Sin pulls Burcev in close to prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vladimir Burcev just wasn't active enough.
Burcev avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Burcev but Burcev pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sloppy strikes from Burcev. Those never looked like landing.
Sin swats away the attempt to clinch by Burcev.
Burcev misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sin wants to clinch.

Sin instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Burcev holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Sin keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Burcev's efforts to push away.
Burcev goes for a takedown attempt but Sin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sin has taken the fight to the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Guile Sin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Burcev with a lazy takedown attempt

and Sin moves into the clinch.

Burcev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Burcev clinches with his opponent.
Burcev managing to block the knees to the body from Sin.
A bit of stalling here from Burcev.

Burcev ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Burcev no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Burcev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sin trying to control but Burcev is working from the bottom.
Sin sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Burcev will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sin tries to free his leg and advance position but Burcev is retaining full guard.
Burcev wants to sweep here but Sin controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Guile Sin.
Sin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sin tries to clinch there but Burcev circles away.
Sin tries to close the distance and clinch but Burcev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Burcev closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Burcev has control of an arm but Sin manages to advance to Burcev's back!

Sin is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Burcev defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sin controlling from the back.
Sin is trying to control but Burcev is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Burcev is looking to get to half guard.
Burcev regains half guard.
Sin is just content to waste time from the top position. Burcev takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sin wants to control from the top but Burcev keeps moving.
Sin is breathing heavily.
Burcev is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Vladimir Burcev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Burcev's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Guile Sin wasn't active enough on the ground.
Burcev moves in looking to clinch but Sin pushes him off.

Burcev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Sin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Burcev is putting a hurting on Sin here, landing some big shots from side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladimir Burcev dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Burcev fails with a takedown attempt.

Sin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Burcev tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sin is in Burcev's guard.
Sin trying to control the position from guard on top but Burcev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Burcev kicks Sin off and gets to his feet.
Sin is looking to clinch but Burcev is avoiding it.
Sin doesn't manage to clinch there - Burcev circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sin is defended easily by Burcev.

Sin wants to clinch

and Burcev counters with a takedown into side control.
Burcev happy to just control the position for now.
You can see the frustration on Sin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sin is trying to improve his position.
Sin struggling a bit here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burcev scores with punches from side control.
Burcev passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Sin!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burcev wants to control the pace but Sin is squirming around nicely.
Sin swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Burcev manages to capitalize on a mistake by Sin to take his back!

Burcev has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Sin is defending well but eventually Burcev manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Sin has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Vladimir Burcev!
Vladimir Burcev gave a mention to Big Boy Fighting Apparel in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
