Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Janis Piternieks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Claude Van Damme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Damme tries to clinch
and Piternieks counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Piternieks breaks from the clinch.
Piternieks looks to land a combination. Van Damme sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Van Damme changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Piternieks tries to avoid it but Van Damme manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Piternieks to the ground. Piternieks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Piternieks looks for a takedown but Van Damme sprawls well.

Piternieks lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Van Damme tries to clinch but Piternieks is having none of it.
Good leg kick by Piternieks there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Van Damme is trying desperately to land a takedown but Piternieks is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Van Damme.
Piternieks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Van Damme is fending him off so far but Piternieks persists. Nope, Van Damme circles away and we're back to standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
