Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Craig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilson Maughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Craig!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Wilson Maughan!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maughan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A punch lands to the side of Craig 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Craig dodges the punch combination from Maughan.
Maughan misses with an uppercut

and Craig counters with a single leg into guard. Maughan didn't expect that.

Craig gets to his feet - Maughan follows without any prompting.
Maughan ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Left hook, right uppercut from Maughan.

Maughan closes the distance and clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Craig has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Maughan has a couple of punches blocked by Craig.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Maughan creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Craig pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Craig shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maughan as he avoids it easily.
Maughan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Craig.
Maughan throws a body punch but Craig moves out of range.

Maughan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Maughan wants it to stay on the feet.

Craig is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Craig shoots in for a takedown but Maughan shows good takedown defense.

Maughan cracks a nice hook into Craig's ribs.
Nice sprawl there from Maughan as Craig shoots in.
Craig on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Maughan throws out a powerful jab.

Maughan takes the fight into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maughan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Maughan has had enough of the clinch but Craig keeps him there for the moment.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Craig.
Craig blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Craig's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Craig escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Maughan fails to land with a series of punches.
Craig needs to keep his hands up - Maughan had a free shot at his head there.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Craig.
Craig is looking to clinch but Maughan is avoiding it.
Craig closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maughan circles away.

Craig scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Craig controlling the action here.
Craig wants to take a breather but Maughan is having none of it.

Maughan is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Craig wants to control but Maughan is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Simon Craig.
Maughan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Maughan moves into range and connects with a jab.
Maughan feints a jab promting Craig to slip. Maughan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Craig slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Craig throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maughan's waist but Maughan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Craig off to one side.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Craig tries to clinch there but Maughan circles away.
A combination from Maughan does no damage.

Maughan closes the distance and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilson Maughan dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Craig throws a nice outside leg kick.
Maughan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Craig pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Craig closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maughan circles away.
Simon Craig is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Craig fails with a takedown attempt.
Wilson Maughan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Craig wants to clinch.
Craig takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Craig tries to clinch up.
Craig tries for a takedown but Maughan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Maughan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Craig checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Maughan tries to bum rush Craig with a series of wild strikes but Craig uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Craig has closed the distance and engaged Maughan in a clinch.

Craig breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Maughan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Maughan lands a slapping body shot.
Craig circles away from the clinch attempt.
Maughan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Maughan pushes Craig up against the cage in a clinch.
Maughan struggles to land a body shot inside as Craig controls his hands.
A frustrated look appears on Maughan's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Maughan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Craig pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Craig counters by moving into the clinch.

Maughan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Maughan misses with a two punch combination.
Craig tries to score with a low kick but Maughan moves his leg out of the way.
Maughan throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maughan scores with a jab to the body.
Craig shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wilson Maughan seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Craig shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Craig controlling the pace for now.
Craig's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Maughan can't escape the position.

Craig stands up from mount. Strange move.
Craig tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maughan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Craig somewhat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Maughan cracks a nice hook into Craig's ribs.

Craig scores a takedown into full mount!
Craig controlling the position easily from mount.
Simon Craig overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Maughan is squirming around, avoiding Craig's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Craig prevents Maughan from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Simon Craig will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Craig takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Maughan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Craig drives through and clinches with Maughan against the cage.
Maughan tries to break the clinch but Craig is controlling the position.

Craig pulls guard effortlessly.
Maughan trying to control but Craig is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Craig is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Craig manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Craig moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Maughan has worked his arm free - good work by Maughan!

Craig lands some shots froms side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Craig stands up and beckons Maughan to his feet.
Maughan swats away the attempt to clinch by Craig.
Craig fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Maughan tries to clinch but Craig is having none of it.
Craig tries to bum rush Maughan with a series of wild strikes but Maughan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Craig throws a sloppy head kick and Maughan moves out of range easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maughan lands a jab to Craig's midsection.
Craig tries a head kick but it misses.
Craig tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Maughan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A combination from Maughan does no damage.
The fight stays on the outside here - Craig looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Craig steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maughan.
Maughan lands with a hook. Craig tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Craig shoots in and gets a takedown into Maughan's guard.
Maughan has his hands on Craig's head, controlling the position.
Craig tries to free his leg and advance position but Maughan is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Craig trying to control the position from guard on top but Maughan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Maughan controls Craig momentarily but Craig frees himself.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Craig looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maughan is fending him off so far but Craig persists. Nope, Maughan circles away and we're back to standing.
Maughan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Maughan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Maughan looks to land a combination but Craig avoids it well.
Maughan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Simon Craig showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Craig has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
