Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Connely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malli Nukke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Connely could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Malli Nukke's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Connely!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Malli Nukke!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connely fails with the takedown.
Connely changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nukke tries to avoid it but Connely manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nukke to the ground. Nukke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Connely misses with an uppercut. Nukke saw that one coming.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Connely!


It looks like Malli Nukke has been cut.
A choreographed right hand from Nukke misses the target.
Nukke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Connely stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Nukke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Connely. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Connely's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Connely has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Connely postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Nukke is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Connely is controlling him.

Connely stands up over Nukke, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Connely uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nukke.

The crowd cheers as Connely lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nukke doesn't seem phased though.

Connely feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nukke shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Nukke shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Nukke bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Connely's guard.
Connely is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Nukke tries to roll over but Connely keeps him under control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nukke can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well Connely has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
