Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Winston McCall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Wade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCall's entrance music is Parkway Drive - Sleepwalker. A fine choice. Wade comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Are You Ready? kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thomas Wade!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCall misses the body punch

and Wade counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wade lands a nice short elbow.
Wade thows a huge punch but McCall dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCall wants to get back to his feet.

Wade is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

McCall had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wade defends it easily.
McCall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wade manages to get himself to full guard.

McCall drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wade looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wade looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wade!

McCall is looking to reverse the position.

A close round but Thomas Wade will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

McCall swings for the body but Wade moves out of range.

and Wade counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McCall's guard now.

Wade is trying desperately to improve position.
Wade is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

McCall moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Wade has worked his arm free - good work by Wade!

McCall throws a strike aimed at the side of Wade's head but Wade avoids it well.
McCall tries to advance to mount but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCall postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
McCall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wade keeps working.
McCall moves into full mount!
McCall can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wade is looking to escape.

McCall jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wade is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wade and McCall has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Wade is looking to regain half guard here but McCall keeps moving and retains side control.

McCall wants to control but Wade is keeping him busy.
Wade stops McCall from passing to mount.
Wade parries the strikes from McCall easily there. McCall is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Wade to escape.

McCall is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wade knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

McCall tries to bum rush Wade with a series of wild strikes but Wade uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
