Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Royce Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Berting Araw! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Araw tries a head kick but it misses.
Gracie fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Araw pinned against the cage. Araw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Araw scores with a head kick. Gracie tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Gracie has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Royce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Araw swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gracie. Gracie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Araw's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Araw can do anything to dispel that myth. Gracie is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Araw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gracie is controlling him. Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie's corner is telling him to maintain position. Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Araw is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Araw manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Araw's guard. Gracie drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Gracie as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Araw screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Gracie! Nice submission victory there!
