PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big Show (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Show might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Be A Warrior. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Big Show!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brian Fury!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fury dives in and scores a takedown into Show's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Show wants to sweep but no luck.
Show keeping moving, preventing Fury from controlling successfully.
Fury stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Show swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Show throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Show really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fury drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Show dives on top into guard.
Fury really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Show. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Show is looking to stand up but Fury won't let him.
Show looking to sit in guard and control but Fury gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Show has control of Fury's left arm, preventing Fury from doing any damage.
Show will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fury must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Show keeping moving, preventing Fury from controlling successfully.

Fury stands and steps away. Show gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Fury closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Show quickly recovers to half guard.
Show is trying to control but Fury manages to pass to mount!
Show is looking to get to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Show tries to hold on but Fury postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fury in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fury is landing with some decent strikes but Show is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Fury controlling the pace for now.
Show tries to reverse the position but Fury maintains control.
Fury misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Fury cracks Show with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fury lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Fury wants to finish this one by submission but Show is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Fury.
Fury avoids the attempt from Show to control.
Fury can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Show is looking to escape.
Fury lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Show is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Fury throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Show wants to control but Fury is having none of it.
Show is bucking up trying to escape but Fury cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fury wants to finish this one by submission but Show is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Fury.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Show is looking to improve his position but Fury isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Fury dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Show fails in his attempt to clinch.

Show moves into the clinch successfully.
Fury tries to pull guard but Show forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Fury is trying to break the clinch but Show has him pressed against the cage.
Show landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Show manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Show has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fury can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fury is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Show looking for subs off his back but Fury has passed one foot through into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fury with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Show has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fury is working away from the top position though.

Fury wants to work for an arm triangle but Show is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Fury stands up and beckons Show to join him on the feet.
Big Show is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Show gets a clinch.

Fury breaks from the clinch.
Show looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fury is fending him off so far but Show persists. Nope, Fury circles away and we're back to standing.

Fury shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Show is looking to improve his position.
Show controlling the position for now.
Fury controlling the action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fury has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Show defend it? Fury steps over the head and cranks it - Show is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Fury!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Brian Fury!
