The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirby misses with a lunging right hand
letting Epps counter with a right hand.
Kirby takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kirby lands a nice shot to the body.
John Kirby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kirby connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Epps throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kirby connects with a good right hand that stumbles Epps. Epps circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Kirby uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Epps.

Epps takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kirby throws a leg kick but Epps sees it coming and moves out of range.
Epps tries to clinch up but Kirby circles away and keeps his distance.

Epps fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kirby manages to avoid it.

and Kirby counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Epps lands a lovely overhand right.
Epps takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Epps lands with an uppercut that bounces Kirby off the cage and back into range.
Kirby lands with a hook. Epps tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Epps takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Kirby blocks a jab.
Epps throws an off balance right hand

Kirby swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Epps.
