Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evan Sherls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Sharpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evan Sherls has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Evan Sherls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Sharpe!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharpe avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sherls shoots for a double leg takedown but Sharpe sprawls well. He's pushed Sherls's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sherls takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Sharpe lands a nice shot to the body.

Sharpe drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sharpe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Sharpe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sharpe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sherls is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sharpe, into his guard.

Sharpe looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sherls wants to improve his position but Sharpe is controlling well.

Sharpe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sharpe won't allow Sherls to sweep him here.

Sharpe drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sherls dives on top into guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Sherls is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Sharpe has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sharpe tries to roll over but Sherls keeps him under control.
Sharpe is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sherls's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sherls's back!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sherls turns into Sharpe and is now in his guard.

Sherls drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sherls jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sharpe has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sherls is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sharpe.

Sherls decides to stand back up. Sherls steps back and let's Sharpe get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michael Sharpe will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Sharpe stuns Sherls with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Sharpe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sherls is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sherls is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sharpe off and has taken his back!

Sherls is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Sharpe has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Sharpe turns into Sherls and is now in his guard.

Sharpe swings around for an armbar but Sherls sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sharpe's guard.

Sherls is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sharpe with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Sherls can't handle though.

Sharpe is looking for a triangle but Sherls pushes his legs off easily.

Sharpe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sherls doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sherls manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sharpe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sherls's guard.

Sherls has his feet on Sharpe's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Sharpe's corner calls for a 1-2. Sharpe obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Michael Sharpe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Sharpe keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Sharpe is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Sharpe feints and as Sherls raises his hands in defense, Sharpe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Sharpe drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sherls dives on top into guard.
Sherls wants to get up but he can't break Sharpe's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Sherls stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sharpe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Michael Sharpe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sharpe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
