Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian Conners (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Erickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brian Conners! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marshall Erickson! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conners looks for a takedown but Erickson sprawls well. Erickson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Conners regains half guard. Conners has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Erickson is working away from the top position though. Conners won't allow Erickson to pass to mount. Conners trying to hold on to Erickson's head to control him but Erickson postures up.
Erickson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Conners does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Conners is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Erickson blocks the strikes from Conners.
Erickson trying to control the action but Conners is working from the bottom. Conners trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Erickson wants to free his trapped foot but Conners is holding on for dear life with his legs. Erickson trying to control the pace.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Marshall Erickson wasn't active enough on the ground. Erickson gets a clinch. Conners jumps guard but Erickson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Erickson jumps guard.
Conners trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Erickson wants to sweep but no luck. Erickson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Conners has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Erickson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Conners is now in half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Conners in particular looking to stall.

We're going to have a standup here because Brian Conners wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Erickson throws a head kick but Conners moves out of range.
Erickson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Conners struggling a bit here. Conners is looking for a sweep. Conners can't do much from the bottom here. Conners is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Erickson works his way into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Conners gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Conners gets full guard. Erickson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Conners. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Conners has Erickson pulled in close to control his posture. Conners trying to control the position.
This has been an exciting period of action! Conners is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Erickson frees his head nicely. Oh but Conners has switched to an armbar! Erickson is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
