Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forge Craftsman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hill has chosen Burning Inside as his entrance music. Owen Hill told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Owen Hill! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Craftsman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hill avoids it really well and circles away. Craftsman misses with a takedown and Hill counters with a nice double leg into guard. Hill looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Craftsman wants to sweep but no luck. Hill lands a couple of decent looking shots. Craftsman wants to stand up but Hill is controlling him. Hill passes into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hill frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Craftsman is trying desperately to improve position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Craftsman tries to hold on but Hill pushes him away. Craftsman wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Hill patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Craftsman is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

I really don't envy Craftsman right now.

Craftsman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Craftsman shoots in but Hill avoids the takedown attempt easily. Craftsman closes the distance and clinches up with Hill, looking for a takedown. Craftsman pushes Hill against the cage but Hill circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Forge Craftsman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Craftsman shoots in looking for a takedown but Hill manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Craftsman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hill closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Craftsman quickly recovers to half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hill in particular looking to stall. Hill uses his free foot to push down on Craftsman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Craftsman. Hill working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Hill breaks from Craftsman's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hill postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Craftsman looks a forlorn figure.
Craftsman wants to hold on but Hill pushes him away. Hill fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Craftsman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Craftsman tries to get out of the position. Hill landing shots from mount. Hill wants to finish this one by submission but Craftsman is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hill. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hill tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Craftsman tries to hold on but Hill postures up. Hill looking to control but Craftsman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Craftsman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hill on the ground.

Hill displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Craftsman. Craftsman shoots in looking for a takedown but Hill manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Craftsman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Craftsman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hill is fending him off so far but Craftsman persists. Nope, Hill circles away and we're back to standing. Craftsman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hill's waist but Hill gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Craftsman off to one side. Excellent takedown into side control there by Hill. Hill tries for a kimura but Craftsman is defending well. Check out the look on Hill's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Hill passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Craftsman! Hill jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Craftsman manages to avoid the submission attempt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hill is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Craftsman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hill is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Craftsman has escaped the position, nice work there.
