Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Janis Piternieks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kick Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Janis Piternieks looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Janis Piternieks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kick Boxer!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piternieks has a takedown stuffed.
Piternieks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Boxer is fending him off so far but Piternieks persists. Nope, Boxer circles away and we're back to standing.

Piternieks clinches up with Boxer and pushes him back against the cage.
Piternieks is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Boxer pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Piternieks has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Boxer uses from the top position.

Piternieks is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Boxer is aware though and is defending well.

Piternieks has his foot on Boxer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Boxer works his way back into a safe position though.

Piternieks is breathing heavily.

Boxer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Piternieks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Boxer has managed to get both his arms back between Piternieks's legs - danger averted.

Boxer looking to sit in guard and control but Piternieks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Piternieks gets to his feet - Boxer follows without any prompting.
A jab lands there for Boxer.
Boxer tries to clinch but Piternieks moves out of range.

Boxer has had enough of the clinch but Piternieks keeps him there for the moment.
Boxer has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Piternieks keeps control of Boxer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Piternieks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Piternieks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Boxer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Piternieks keeping moving, preventing Boxer from controlling successfully.
Boxer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Piternieks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boxer won't allow Piternieks to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Janis Piternieks will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Piternieks makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Boxer really felt that one!
Piternieks shoots for a takedown but Boxer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Piternieks shoots in looking for a takedown but Boxer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Piternieks's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Piternieks takes a jab right on the kisser.


It looks like Janis Piternieks has been cut.
Piternieks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Piternieks gets a double leg takedown into Boxer's guard.
Piternieks wants to control from the top but Boxer keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boxer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Piternieks!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Piternieks is trying desperately to improve position.
Boxer lands a nice shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Piternieks is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Boxer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Piternieks is looking to escape.
Boxer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Oh Piternieks is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Boxer is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Piternieks manages to get to full guard.

Kick Boxer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Piternieks shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Boxer as he jumps to the side.
Boxer throws a chopping leg kick but Piternieks manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Piternieks shoots in looking for a takedown but Boxer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Piternieks's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Piternieks is trying to drag Boxer to the mat but Boxer just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Boxer misses with a punch to the body.

Piternieks breaks from the clinch.
Boxer throws a sloppy head kick and Piternieks moves out of range easily.
Kick Boxer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boxer listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Piternieks avoids a punch combination nicely.
Boxer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Piternieks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Boxer pinned against the cage. Boxer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Boxer connects with a right that clearly hurt Piternieks. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Boxer proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Piternieks collapses and taps out under the pressure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kick Boxer!
