PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Durden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nate Brennan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyler Durden!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Durden drives through with a takedown into guard.
Durden tries to free his leg and advance position but Brennan is retaining full guard.

Brennan had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Durden is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Brennan Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Durden's back instead.
Brennan has the hooks in. Durden is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Brennan is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Durden. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Brennan lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Brennan.

Brennan is trying to stick to Durden's back but Durden is turning into Brennan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Brennan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Durden.
Durden wants to control from the top but Brennan keeps moving.
Durden stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brennan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brennan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Durden looks gassed!
Brennan not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Brennan passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Durden!
Brennan prevents Durden from getting the reversal.
Durden is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Durden wants to hold on but Brennan pushes him away.
Durden is trying to escape the mount.

Brennan is landing with some decent strikes but Durden is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Brennan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Durden's face.
Brennan prevents Durden from getting the reversal.
Brennan avoids the attempt from Durden to control.
Durden slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Durden has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Brennan escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Brennan!
Durden gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Durden is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Durden is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Brennan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Durden gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Durden won't allow Brennan to sweep him here.

Durden forces his way into half guard.
Durden works his foot free and advances to mount.
Durden fails to move to back control.
Durden with the ground and pound from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Durden controlling from mount.
Brennan is trying desperately to improve position.

Durden manages to capitalize on a mistake by Brennan to take his back!

Durden tries to keep control of the position but Brennan is staying busy.

Durden is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Brennan has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
