PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pilot Abilene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vera comes to the cage accompanied by Badass. Abilene is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: All These Things I've Done by Killers. Pilot Abilene will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abilene drives through with a takedown into Vera's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pilot Abilene hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Abilene tries to sprawl but Vera drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Abilene is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vera's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vera's back!

Vera is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Abilene might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vera kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Pilot Abilene wasn't active enough on the ground.

Vera is looking to reverse the position.

Abilene is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vera is looking to regain half guard here but Abilene keeps moving and retains side control.

Abilene is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vera will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Abilene is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Vera has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pilot Abilene showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Abilene throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Vera tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Abilene is in Vera's guard.

Abilene is stalling here. Vera is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Abilene seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Vera has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Pilot Abilene decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
