Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Larry Lefthanded! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Long! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lefthanded shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Long manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Lefthanded stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Long swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lefthanded trying to control the position from guard on top but Long is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lefthanded pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Long is keeping the position for now. Larry Lefthanded has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Lefthanded closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lefthanded lands in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lefthanded looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lefthanded wanted to stand there but Long had control of the position. Lefthanded throwing strikes but missing. Lefthanded wants to stand and escape but instead Long has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Long is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Lefthanded knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Long on the ground. Long drops back looking for a leg! Lefthanded is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lefthanded manages to kick Long off! Long jumps back into Lefthanded's guard. Lefthanded looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lefthanded is striking but Long is not phased and passes to half guard. Long is working for a submission of some sort.

Lefthanded wants to get back to full guard. Long is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Lefthanded moves into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Larry Lefthanded dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Lefthanded dives in and scores a takedown into Long's guard. Long is working an open guard so Lefthanded takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Lefthanded shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Lefthanded throws a big elbow that misses. Lefthanded wants to stand but Long is controlling his posture from full guard. Lefthanded avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lefthanded trying to control but Long is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lefthanded controls from within his opponent's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Larry Lefthanded wasn't doing enough on the ground. Lefthanded closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lefthanded lands in his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lefthanded trying to control but Long is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Long has his feet on Lefthanded's thighs here. He's pushed Lefthanded off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Lefthanded screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

After the fight, Jake Long was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
