Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Encarnacao! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Encarnacao looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Encarnacao changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Encarnacao remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. It looks like Encarnacao might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Encarnacao goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jones rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Encarnacao's guard! Nice work there by Jones! Jones looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Encarnacao keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Jones won't allow Encarnacao to sweep him here. Encarnacao is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Encarnacao is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones. Encarnacao shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Encarnacao was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Encarnacao lands with some strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Encarnacao takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Encarnacao's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Jones is wriggling around trying to escape.
Encarnacao is in the full mount, landing strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Encarnacao controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Jones is in trouble now - Encarnacao has advanced to mount! Encarnacao fails to take his opponent's back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Encarnacao controlling from the full mount. Encarnacao lands a nice shot to the head. Encarnacao looking to control and managing it successfully. A nice elbow there by Encarnacao. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Encarnacao has his takedown stuffed and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Encarnacao didn't expect that. Encarnacao looking for a guillotine here but Jones defends easily.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jones is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Encarnacao controlling his opponent. Jack Encarnacao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones. Encarnacao sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
