Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takahiro Akiyoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicko Mazric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicko Mazric told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takahiro Akiyoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nicko Mazric!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mazric misses with a wild body shot.
No joy there for Mazric, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mazric throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mazric lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Akiyoshi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Akiyoshi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Mazric manages to get to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Akiyoshi slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mazric manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Mazric wants to improve his position but Akiyoshi is controlling well.
Akiyoshi winds up and cracks Mazric with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Akiyoshi connects with a nice short shot to Mazric's temple.
Mazric wants to get back to full guard.
Akiyoshi looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Akiyoshi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Akiyoshi cracks Mazric with a solid left hand.
Akiyoshi stands up over Mazric, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Akiyoshi gets to his feet and stands over Mazric, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Mazric felt that one! Akiyoshi unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Mazric from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takahiro Akiyoshi!
