Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sonny Nagasaki! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Waleran Bigod! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nagasaki shoots for a double leg takedown but Bigod sprawls well. He's pushed Nagasaki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Nagasaki. Bigod throws out a loose jab but Nagasaki uses good head movement to avoid it. Bigod stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sonny Nagasaki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bigod gets caught napping as Nagasaki dives in and scores a takedown. Bigod manages to retain guard. Nagasaki drops back looking for a leg! Bigod is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bigod manages to kick Nagasaki off! Nagasaki jumps back into Bigod's guard. Nagasaki drops back looking for a leg! Bigod is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bigod manages to kick Nagasaki off! Nagasaki jumps back into Bigod's guard. Nagasaki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nagasaki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nagasaki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Nagasaki drops back looking for a leg! Bigod is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bigod manages to kick Nagasaki off! Nagasaki jumps back into Bigod's guard. Nagasaki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Nagasaki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nagasaki has gone for a leg lock! Bigod slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nagasaki's guard. Nagasaki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bigod wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Nagasaki's closed guard. He's half up but Nagasaki has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Nagasaki pivots and extends the arm, Bigod falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Nagasaki! Well done that man!
