Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kenny Grohl! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, David Goliath! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goliath gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Goliath looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Grohl dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Grohl is trying to break free. Goliath comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Goliath jumps into guard, dragging Grohl to the mat.
Goliath keeping moving, preventing Grohl from controlling successfully. Grohl connects with a couple of short punches. Grohl is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Grohl seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Goliath for as long as he can get away with. Grohl tries to free his leg and advance position but Goliath is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grohl is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Goliath really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grohl. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Kenny Grohl just wasn't active enough. Grohl shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Goliath's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goliath tries to land a sweep but no joy. Goliath trying to control the position.
Grohl postures up and lands a big shot to Goliath's brow. Grohl pushes down on Goliath's leg and manages to get into half guard. Grohl seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Grohl works his foot free and advances to mount. Grohl connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Grohl looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grohl swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
