Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Woods is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Before I forget. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carlos Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Woods!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Woods moves into the clinch.
Ribeiro is trying to pull guard but Woods has him pressed against the cage.
Ribeiro blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ribeiro tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Woods scores with a nice hook to the head.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Woods.

Ribeiro decides to pull guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Woods is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ribeiro is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Woods would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ribeiro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ribeiro is trying to keep Woods in close.

Woods gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ribeiro shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


It looks like Carlos Ribeiro has been cut.
Ribeiro circles away from the clinch attempt

and Ribeiro decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Woods's guard.
Ribeiro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ribeiro stops Woods from standing up.

Ribeiro drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Woods manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ribeiro has Woods in his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ribeiro looking for a guillotine here but Woods defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ribeiro looking to control.
Ribeiro is really struggling to control Woods but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Ribeiro looking for subs off his back but Woods has passed one foot through into half guard.
Woods really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ribeiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ribeiro is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Woods seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Ribeiro actively working from the bottom here.
Woods is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ribeiro is looking to get back to full guard here but Woods has managed to pass to side control instead.
Ribeiro is breathing heavily.
Woods working away.
Woods tries to get to his feet but Ribeiro is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Woods in his guard.

Ribeiro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Woods can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Woods wants to get up but he can't break Ribeiro's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ribeiro is trying to control the position but Woods postures up.
Ribeiro has a closed guard, preventing Woods from standing up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ribeiro is on top in guard.
Woods is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Carlos Ribeiro will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Carlos Ribeiro's cut.
That's time! Ribeiro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Woods tries to clinch but Ribeiro is having none of it.
Woods throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Woods gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ribeiro jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Woods walks away with a smile on his face. Ribeiro gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Woods tries to close the distance and clinch but Ribeiro swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Woods fails in his attempt to clinch.

Woods instigates a clinch.
Ribeiro fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Woods lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ribeiro backwards.
Woods lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Ribeiro or not.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Woods lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Woods lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Ribeiro wants to take the fight to the mat but Woods manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Ribeiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Woods lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ribeiro backwards.

Woods throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Woods lands with a left to the head.


Ribeiro is rocked!
Ribeiro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Woods lands a hook that snaps the head of Ribeiro backwards.
Oh Ribeiro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ribeiro takes a shot to the head.
Woods is leaning against Ribeiro and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Woods scores with a shoulder strike.
Woods lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ribeiro.
Woods lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Woods unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Ribeiro! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Woods is unloading with more strikes now! Ribeiro drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jason Woods!
Jason Woods bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
