PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kon Sai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr E Guest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sai's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Made In Thailand. Kon Sai had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kon Sai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mr E Guest!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sai tries to clinch up but Guest circles away and keeps his distance.
Guest uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sai.
Sai lunges at Guest with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Guest's hand.
Kon Sai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sai displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Guest throws out the jab.
Sai tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Guest manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Guest shoots in for a takedown but Sai shows good takedown defense.
Guest shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sai pinned against the cage. Sai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sai shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Guest blocks a head kick by Sai.
Sai fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sai slips under a jab from Guest.
Guest throws a looping overhand right but Sai ducks down to avoid it.
Sai shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Guest eats them both and turns towards Sai to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A jab from Sai misses.
Kon Sai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sai fails with an attempt to clinch.
Guest takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Sai tries to clinch up but Guest circles away and keeps his distance.

Guest closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sai did well to prevent Guest getting side control.

Guest seems to be looking for submissions.
Guest perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sai is trying to maintain the position but Guest is very close to passing his half guard.

Well, if Guest is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Guest is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sai has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sai regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Guest.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guest trying to control the position from guard on top but Sai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Guest engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Sai wants to sweep but no luck.
Sai wants to stand and escape but Guest is having none of it.
Guest chips away with some ground and pound.
Guest trying to control the position from guard on top but Sai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sai avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Guest's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Guest wants to control from the top but Sai keeps moving.

Mr E Guest has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Guest shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sai but Sai pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kon Sai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mr E Guest.
Sai throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guest scores with a nice strike.
Sai tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Guest paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sai throws a head kick that misses.
Sai takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mr E Guest dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sai tries to bum rush Guest with a series of wild strikes but Guest uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Guest closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sai has hold of Guest's hands but Guest slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Guest missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Guest is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sai doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Guest.
Sai has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Guest is working away from the top position though.
Sai avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Guest.

Guest is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sai defends it well.

Guest makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Mr E Guest showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
