Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida fails to land the takedown.
Machida looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wales is fending him off so far but Machida persists. Nope, Wales circles away and we're back to standing.
Wales throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Machida.
Wales connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Machida momentarily.
Wales shoots in and bounces Machida off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

Machida has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wales can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Machida keeping full guard, as Wales tries to pass.
Wales avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wales connects with a couple of short punches.
Machida looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wales is one step ahead there.
Wales tries to free his leg and advance position but Machida is retaining full guard.
Machida working for a triangle but Wales defends it easily.

Wales keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Machida's head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Wales looking to pass the guard.
Machida wants to sweep but no luck.
Machida looking for a guillotine here but Wales defends easily.
Machida is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wales is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Machida looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wales is one step ahead there.

Machida manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wales is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Machida locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Wales is forced to tap!
