The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne throws a head kick that misses.
Payne fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lachance.

Payne rushes Lachance and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lachance tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Payne just stands there and leans against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Payne's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Payne breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lachance has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Payne.
Nice takedown defense from Payne. No joy for Lachance on that attempt.

Payne rushes Lachance and presses him up against the cage.
Payne is trying to push Lachance away but Lachance has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Payne wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Payne tries to break free but Lachance pushes him back against the cage.

Lachance tries for a takedown but Payne manages to get underhooks.
Oscar Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Lachance.
Payne is looking to break free of the clinch but Lachance has double underhooks.

Payne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Payne cracks the inside of Lachance's front leg.
Payne lands a nice leg kick that just misses Lachance's sensitive parts.

Lachance tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Payne throws a leg kick which misses Lachance's front leg but catches the back leg as Lachance tries to avoid it.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Payne.

Payne scores with a knee to the head.
Payne with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Payne content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Payne tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Payne scores with a nice body kick.
Oscar Payne is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Payne darts in and clinches Lachance up against the cage.
Payne wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Payne breaks the clinch.
Payne throws a sloppy head kick and Lachance moves out of range easily.
Lachance on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Payne. Payne obviously looking to wear him down.
Payne throws a quick inside leg kick.
Payne bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Payne scores with a head kick.

It looks like John Lachance has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Payne drops Lachance with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Lachance looks back up at him and smiles so Payne waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Lachance is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Payne has cracked Lachance with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Payne lands another huge swinging hook and Lachance tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Lachance, before Payne can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Oscar Payne!
Oscar Payne was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
