Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Koral Creyonte! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Crews! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crews wants to clinch. Crews looks to clinch and Crews takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Crews misses with a kick to the body.
Crews closes the distance but Creyonte moves to the side and Creyonte counters with a lovely straight right hand! A head kick misses from Crews. Crews darts in trying to clinch and Creyonte counters with a straight right hand. Crews moves to clinch but Creyonte breaks away and Creyonte counters with a lovely shot to the body. Creyonte circles away from the clinch attempt and Creyonte counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Crews moves out of range of the body kick. Crews tries to clinch but Creyonte is having none of it. Crews looks to clinch and Creyonte counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Crews fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crews misses with a body kick. Creyonte shoots in and bounces Crews off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Creyonte drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Crews manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Creyonte has Crews in his guard. Crews stands up over Creyonte, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Crews throws a big right hand that misses. Crews trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Creyonte throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Crews missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Creyonte had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Crews defends it easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Crews postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Crews throws a big elbow that misses. Creyonte working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Crews doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Crews manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Crews works over Creyonte with some ground and pound from guard. Crews looking to improve position, pressing down on Creyonte's thigh with his hand. Creyonte seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Crews paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Crews's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Creyonte picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
