Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Laidler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Young is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rockstar by Nickelback. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Laidler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Young! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laidler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Young sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Laidler somewhat. Laidler keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Laidler leaves Young with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Young keeps the fight on the outside. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Young is defended easily by Laidler. Kyle Laidler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joseph Young. Young will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Young looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Joseph Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Laidler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Young sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Laidler somewhat. Young slaps away a takedown attempt from Laidler, before circling back to the center of the mat. Laidler on the wrong end of a nice jab.

That's one minute gone in the round. Young tries to score a power double leg takedown but Laidler sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Young somewhat. Young gets a takedown into half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Young is thwarting Laidler's attempts to control the position. Young seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Laidler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young wants to stand but Laidler has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Young is trying to control. Laidler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Young looks gassed!
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joseph Young wasn't active enough on the ground. Laidler tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Young swivels and escapes. Laidler leaves Young with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Laidler swings away with a leg kick that misses. Young changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Laidler tries to avoid it but Young manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Laidler to the ground. Laidler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Young. Laidler tries to clinch but Young is having none of it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Laidler lands a slapping body shot.

Laidler has Young pressed against the cage, preventing Young from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Young is trying to break the clinch but Laidler is controlling him. Laidler drops down looking for an ankle pick but Young pulls his leg out and moves away.
Laidler tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Laidler tries to score a power double leg takedown but Young sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Laidler somewhat. Young looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Laidler forces Young back against the cage and clinches. Laidler manages to pull guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laidler manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Laidler controlling the pace for now. Young holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Laidler tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Laidler looking to control and managing it successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Young tries to lock up and control but Laidler gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kyle Laidler will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Kyle Laidler's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Laidler throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Young's waist but Young gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Laidler off to one side. Kyle Laidler is winning the standup battle so far. Horrible takedown by Laidler or perhaps it was just good defense by Young which made him look bad. Laidler moves out of range as Young throws a body kick.

Laidler closes this distance looking for a takedown but Young circles away. Laidler gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Laidler decides to pull guard. Young has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Laidler is proving hard to escape from. Laidler keeping moving, preventing Young from controlling successfully. Laidler has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Young must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joseph Young was stalling too much, according to the referee. Laidler displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Young. No luck with that takedown attempt from Laidler. Laidler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Laidler throwing shots but Young is blocking nicely. Young is trying to stand.

Laidler is trying to force a seperation but Young has the dominant position. A short uppercut from Young. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Laidler jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Young walks away with a smile on his face. Laidler gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Laidler fails in his attempt to clinch. Young tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Laidler was well out of range. Poor timing from Young. Laidler fails to land the takedown. Young jabs Laidler right on the nose. Laidler blinks but takes it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Laidler's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Young trying to stand up but can't free himself from Laidler's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Laidler is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Young looking to control.
