Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vyktor Kovalevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artur Klimenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klimenko is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bumboks - hottabych. Klimenko has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Artur Klimenko!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kovalevsky.

Klimenko closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kovalevsky quickly recovers to half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kovalevsky is holding on to half guard well.
Kovalevsky moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kovalevsky is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Klimenko is controlling him.
Kovalevsky looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Kovalevsky looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Klimenko stands up over Kovalevsky, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kovalevsky pulls Klimenko in close to prevent any damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Klimenko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kovalevsky is looking to stand up but Klimenko isn't so interested in that idea.

Kovalevsky pushes Klimenko off and gets back to his feet.

Klimenko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Klimenko lands in his opponent's guard.
Kovalevsky is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kovalevsky pulls Klimenko in close to his closed guard and prevents Klimenko from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kovalevsky manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kovalevsky breaks from Klimenko's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kovalevsky looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kovalevsky looking to control but Klimenko is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Kovalevsky wants to finish this one by submission but Klimenko is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kovalevsky.

Kovalevsky is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Klimenko can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Kovalevsky working for a submission but Klimenko is keeping him at bay.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Klimenko can do anything to dispel that myth.

Klimenko somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Kovalevsky shoots in for a takedown but Klimenko shows good takedown defense.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kovalevsky enables Klimenko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kovalevsky manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kovalevsky wants to control the pace but Klimenko is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kovalevsky tries for a takedown but Klimenko sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Klimenko closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kovalevsky's guard.

Kovalevsky has his hands on Klimenko's head, controlling the position.
Klimenko distracts Kovalevsky with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Kovalevsky is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Klimenko is fighting to break Kovalevsky's control of his arms but Kovalevsky is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Klimenko is in close to Kovalevsky's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Kovalevsky has Klimenko pulled in close to control his posture.
Klimenko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vyktor Kovalevsky just wasn't active enough.

Klimenko thows a huge punch but Kovalevsky dodges it nicely.
Kovalevsky is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Klimenko's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Klimenko's back!
