Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phil Lynott!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dieter Berger!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lynott tries to sprawl but Berger drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Lynott wants to get back to his feet.
Lynott taking some punishment here, with Berger in his half guard.
Berger wants to control but Lynott is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Berger is nestled in close to Lynott, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Lynott won't allow Berger to pass to mount.

Berger is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lynott wants to get back to his feet.
Berger slips a nice elbow through Lynott's hands, connecting with Lynott's forehead.
Lynott is trying to stand up here but Berger is controlling him well.
Berger thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Berger has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Berger scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Berger is looking to advance position but Lynott won't allow it.
Lynott is looking to escape.
Berger keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Berger connects with a nice short shot to Lynott's temple.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Berger drops an elbow to the side of Lynott's head.
Berger is taking a breather. Lynott says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Berger lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Berger prevents Lynott from standing back up.
Lynott won't allow Berger to pass to mount.
Berger trying to control the action but Lynott is working from the bottom.
Berger working the head and body with strikes.
Berger is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lynott!
Berger avoids the attempt from Lynott to control.
Berger landing strikes, looking to finish!

Lynott tries to buck Berger off but he can't manage it.
Berger controlling the pace for now.
BOOM! Berger connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Berger scoring with strikes but Lynott is staying in there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lynott wants to control but Berger is having none of it.
Berger wants to control the pace but Lynott is squirming around nicely.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Berger! Lynott is hurt baaadly! Berger is firing away with more strikes - Lynott is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dieter Berger!

Our winner, Dieter Berger, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
