Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksanteri Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karelin comes into the arena with CCCP blaring out of the sound system. David Drake will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aleksanteri Karelin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Drake! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drake misses with a few strikes there.
Karelin shoots in for a double leg but Drake sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Drake displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Karelin throws out the jab. Drake connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Karelin gets tackled into the cage by Drake. Drake maintains the clinch. Drake misses with a punch on the inside.
Karelin is stalling here.
Drake lands with a short head shot on the inside. Drake lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Drake lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Karelin is trying to break the clinch but Drake is controlling him. Drake scores with a shot to the side of Karelin's head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Drake lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Karelin blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Drake escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round. Drake tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Drake works Karelin's body with a nice hook. Drake fails with an attempt to clinch.
Drake slips a straight right by Karelin. Karelin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Karelin there as he acknowledges the shot.
It looks like Aleksanteri Karelin has been cut. Karelin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Drake can pounce on him.

David Drake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Drake lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Karelin backs up against the cage.
Karelin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Drake lands with a nice body punch. Drake rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Karelin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Drake is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Karelin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drake lands a glancing blow to the side of Karelin's head. Karelin misses with a looping right. The fight stays on the outside here - Drake looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Drake works the jab nicely. Karelin drives through with a takedown into Drake's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Drake is trying to control the position but Karelin postures up. Drake keeping moving, preventing Karelin from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Karelin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drake swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drake is trying to hold Karelin in close to prevent damage but Karelin has managed to pass into half guard.
Karelin is pressing down on Drake's thigh, looking to free his foot. Drake is holding on for now. Karelin is trying to control. Drake wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Karelin throwing shots but Drake is blocking nicely. Karelin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Drake tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Karelin has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Karelin controlling the position easily from mount. Karelin connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
It looks like David Drake has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Drake tries to lock up and control but Karelin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Drake dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Karelin ducks right into an uppercut from Drake. Drake lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Karelin backs up against the cage.
A left and a right from Drake both land. Nice combination. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Drake fails to land with a series of punches.
Karelin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Drake. Karelin throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Drake steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Karelin. Drake's corner calls for a 1-2. Drake obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Karelin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Karelin looks to score with a jab to the body but Drake is just out of range. Drake fails with an attempt to clinch.
Karelin tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Karelin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Drake connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Karelin scrambles back to his feet.

Drake scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Drake uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Karelin.
Drake darts in trying to clinch and Karelin counters with a shoot takedown. Drake fights it but they end up in guard. Karelin trying to control the position from guard on top but Drake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Karelin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Drake is keeping the position for now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Drake is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Karelin is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karelin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Drake wants to stand but Karelin is controlling the position. Karelin stays in close to Drake's body and controls the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Aleksanteri Karelin just wasn't active enough. Drake is looking to slow Karelin down with leg kicks. Drake has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Drake scores with a jab to the jaw. Drake tries to clinch up and Karelin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drake is looking to clinch. Karelin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Drake to score with a decent uppercut. David Drake is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Drake tries to clinch there but Karelin circles away.

Karelin misses with an uppercut. Drake saw that one coming. Drake misses with the combination.
Drake feints and then cracks Karelin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Karelin down. Drake scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Karelin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Drake breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Drake instigates a clinch. Karelin has had enough of the clinch but Drake keeps him there for the moment. A shot in the inside from Drake. Karelin is trying to force a seperation but Drake has the dominant position. Karelin blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Karelin is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Drake's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Drake working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Karelin working hard to break the clinch. Stalling in the clinch from Karelin.
Drake is trying to push Karelin away but Karelin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Drake makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Drake lands a hook to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Drake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!
A good leg kick by Drake. Aleksanteri Karelin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Drake lands a jab. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Drake.
Karelin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Drake tries to clinch up. Danga de danga de dang - Drake scores with a four punch combination! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Karelin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Drake's waist but Drake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Karelin off to one side. Drake closes the distance looking to clinch and Karelin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Drake's guard now. Karelin won't allow Drake to get back to his feet. Drake tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karelin wants to control from the top but Drake keeps moving. Drake is trying to hold Karelin in close to prevent damage but Karelin has managed to pass into half guard.
Aleksanteri Karelin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Drake trying to control here.
Drake is staying active underneath Karelin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We're going to have a standup here because Aleksanteri Karelin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Drake getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Aleksanteri Karelin's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Drake stuns Karelin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Drake misses with the combination.
Karelin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Karelin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Drake sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Drake scores with a decent looking hook. Drake tries to close the distance and clinch but Karelin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Drake tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Karelin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Drake lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Drake's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Drake duly obliges.
Jeez, Aleksanteri Karelin's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Left hook, right uppercut from Drake. Karelin is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Aleksanteri Karelin's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
