Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franklin Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon comes into the arena with Parkway Drive - Frostbite blaring out of the sound system. Franklin Richards has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ben Gordon's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards shoots in but Gordon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gordon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Richards.

Richards closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gordon did well to prevent Richards getting side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Richards seems to be looking for submissions.
Gordon works his way to full guard. Good work.
Gordon wants to sweep but no luck.
Richards drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gordon manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Richards has Gordon in his guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Franklin Richards wasn't active enough on the ground.
Gordon thuds his right hand into Richards's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Gordon counters with a series of strikes. Richards will be more careful next time no doubt.
Ben Gordon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franklin Richards.

Gordon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Richards on the side of the head.

Richards shoots in but Gordon avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Richards is rocked!
Richards walks straight into a right hand from Gordon - that's dropped him! Gordon jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Richards from any more punishment! Richards complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ben Gordon!
