PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pal Secam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tug Speedman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Secam's entrance music is System Of A Down - Chop Suey!. A fine choice. Tug Speedman will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pal Secam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tug Speedman!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Speedman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Secam counters with a single leg into guard. Speedman didn't expect that.
Speedman keeping moving, preventing Secam from controlling successfully.
Secam is looking to work some ground and pound but Speedman has wrist control.
Secam postures up and lands a big shot to Speedman's brow.
Speedman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Secam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Speedman keeping moving, preventing Secam from controlling successfully.

Secam drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Secam jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Speedman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Secam. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Secam has gone for a leg lock! Speedman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Secam's guard.

Secam is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Speedman defends well.
Secam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Secam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Speedman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Speedman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Speedman is looking to stand up but Secam won't let him.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Secam holds on and takes a little breather.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Speedman gets to his feet. Secam looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Secam looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Speedman lands with a straight right. Secam didn't see that one coming.
Secam shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Speedman as he avoids it easily.
Secam misses with a takedown attempt - Speedman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pal Secam. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Secam.

Secam looking to control but Speedman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Speedman is in all sorts of trouble here.
Speedman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Pal Secam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Secam fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Speedman tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Secam trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Secam content just to control the position here.

Secam jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Speedman manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Secam thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Secam working the head and body with strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Speedman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Secam wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Speedman, who protects the arm well.
Secam misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Speedman tries to improve position but can't.
Secam remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Secam throws an elbow but Speedman slips to the side and avoids it well.

Secam in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Speedman is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pal Secam!
After winning the bout, Pal Secam thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
