Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genghis Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos Mendez has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlos Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Genghis Khan! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khan throws a good cross that connects.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mendez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Mendez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Khan counters with a straight right hand. Khan tries to clinch but Mendez is having none of it. Khan forces Mendez back against the cage and clinches. Khan tries to pull guard but Mendez forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Khan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mendez walks away with a smile on his face. Khan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Mendez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Khan forces Mendez back against the cage and clinches. Mendez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Khan has him pressed against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mendez uses from the top position. Mendez wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving. Mendez is looking to stand up but Khan won't let him. Mendez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Mendez trying to stand up but can't free himself from Khan's guard. Khan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Carlos Mendez just wasn't active enough. Mendez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Khan throws a looping overhand right but Mendez ducks down to avoid it. Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mendez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mendez falls off balance throwing a combination
and Khan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Khan moves in looking to clinch but Mendez pushes him off. Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mendez throws a combination that misses and Khan counters with a three punch combo that has Mendez backing up. Mendez nods at Khan to acknowledge the strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! The fight stays on the outside here - Khan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez missing with a left hand there. Khan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Khan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Khan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mendez falls off balance throwing a combination
and Khan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Khan lands a lovely overhand right. Khan pushes Mendez up against the cage in a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Khan manages to pull guard.
Khan is adopting a defensive guard. Mendez tries to free his leg and advance position but Khan is retaining full guard. Khan looking for a sweep. Not yet Khan, not yet. Mendez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Mendez looking to pass the guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Khan pulls Mendez in close to prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Genghis Khan dominated that round. That's time! Mendez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Khan moves into the clinch. Khan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mendez uses from the top position. Mendez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Khan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Mendez trying to control but Khan is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Mendez wants to stand and escape but instead Khan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mendez keeping moving, preventing Khan from controlling successfully. Mendez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Khan controlling from the top position. Khan postures up in Mendez's guard and throws a big left but Mendez blocks it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mendez misses with a wild combination.

Mendez throws a right and a left that Khan avoids nicely. Khan tries to clinch up but Mendez circles away and keeps his distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Khan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Khan doesn't manage to clinch there - Mendez circles away.

and Khan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Mendez takes a swing at Khan's ribcage but misses. Mendez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Khan wants to clinch. Khan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Khan doesn't manage to clinch there - Mendez circles away.

and Khan counters with a lovely straight right hand! Khan closes the distance and pushes Mendez back into the cage. Khan tries to pull guard but Mendez holds him up against the cage and eventually Khan drops back down to his feet.
Khan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mendez just stands there and leans against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Genghis Khan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

A punch combination from Mendez misses. Mendez throws a series of punches but Khan avoids them all with ease. Khan is looking to clinch. Khan rushes Mendez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Khan pulls guard effortlessly. Khan lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mendez! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Khan unloads with some shots from mount but Mendez bucks and avoids them well.
Mendez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Khan on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Khan there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Khan throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mendez because Khan loaded up on that one. Khan scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Mendez?

That's two minutes gone in the round. Khan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mendez is looking to escape. Khan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Khan postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mendez looks a forlorn figure.
Khan wants to control the pace but Mendez is squirming around nicely. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Khan working the ground and pound effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Khan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Mendez is squirming around, avoiding Khan's attempts to control the action. Khan cracks Mendez with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
