0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Marciano! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malloy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Marciano circles away quickly and effectively. Those never looked like landing. Malloy throws a series of punches but Marciano avoids them all with ease. A punch combination from Malloy misses. Marciano closes the distance and clinches. Marciano goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Marciano manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Marciano is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Still in half guard, Marciano seems content to control. Let's hope that Marciano has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
That's one minute gone in the round. Malloy pushes Marciano off but Marciano dives into side control.
Marciano has knee on belly and moves into mount. Marciano working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Malloy turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Marciano off and cradles Malloy's limp body as Marciano celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Joey Marciano!
