Song comes into the arena with I want to be More by Paul Dateh blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Song!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stuart Wray!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Song drives through with a takedown into guard.
Song looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Wray looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Song slips nicely into half guard.
Song is keen to just control but Wray is a slippery customer.
Wray wants to improve his position but Song is controlling well.

Song is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Wray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Song. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wray throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Song passes to full mount!
Song controlling the pace for now.
Wray tries to lock up and control but Song gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Song content just to control the position here.
Song looking to control but Wray is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Song takes Wray's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Wray is in trouble.
Song just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wray tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Wray is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Wray tries to reverse the position but Song maintains control.
Wray regains half guard.
Wray wants to get back to full guard.

Wray is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Song pulls his head out easily.
Wray won't allow Song to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wray is not content to let Song control the position.
Song trying to pass the guard but Wray defending well.
Song is looking to take a break and control but Wray is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wray tries to get to full guard but Song has control of the leg.

Song seems to be working for a kimura but Wray defends the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Song shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wray but Wray pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wray lunges at Song with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Song's hand.
Nice body kick there by Wray.
Horrible takedown by Song or perhaps it was just good defense by Wray which made him look bad.

Song shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Song is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wray defends it well.

Song has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Wray defend it? Song steps over the head and cranks it - Wray is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Song!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tim Song!
Tim Song retains his bantamweight title!
