Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anton Pashurinko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brett Heart! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pashurinko gets the takedown into side control. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Pashurinko scores with a couple of short elbows. A lull in the action here as Pashurinko stalls from top position. Pashurinko really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Heart is trying to control Pashurinko's posture but Pashurinko avoids it. Check out the look on Pashurinko's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Pashurinko is trying to move to mount but Heart reverses beautifully and ends up in Pashurinko's guard. Pashurinko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Heart preventing the sweep. Pashurinko keeping moving, preventing Heart from controlling successfully. Heart drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pashurinko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pashurinko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pashurinko!
That's one minute gone in the round. Pashurinko has control of an arm but Heart manages to advance to Pashurinko's back! Heart is striking from the back but Pashurinko escapes and manages to recover to half guard. Heart is nestled in close to Pashurinko, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Pashurinko is trying to get back to full guard. Pashurinko is trying to stand up here but Heart is controlling him well. Pashurinko looking for submissions off his back. Pashurinko wants to get back to full guard. Heart looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pashurinko is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Heart's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Heart's back! Pashurinko missing with punches from the back. Pashurinko lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Heart tries to escape the position.
Pashurinko somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Heart is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Heart trying to control the position but Pashurinko manages to sink in the hooks. Heart has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Pashurinko. Pashurinko working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Heart is doing well to defend. Pashurinko seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Heart is forced to tap and this one is over!
