Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Akbahi King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Madness! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Madness gets caught flat footed, as King shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Madness is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Madness has his foot on King's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. King works his way back into a safe position though. Madness is looking for a triangle but King pushes his legs off easily.
King's corner is telling him to maintain position. Madness had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. King defends it easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. King is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. King knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Madness on the ground. Madness avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. King is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Akbahi King just wasn't active enough. Madness gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Madness looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
King is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madness manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
King tries to reverse the position but Madness maintains control. Madness misses with some ground and pound and King recovers position to half guard. King is controlling Madness's trapped leg to prevent Madness from advancing to side control.

King tries to roll over but Madness keeps him under control. King pushes Madness off looking to stand but Madness dives back in and keeps control.
Madness is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. King doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Madness. Madness in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. King tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Madness!
