Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Ford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hedin Vaa! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ford blocks a head kick by Vaa.
Vaa pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ford back to the cage. Vaa follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Paul Ford has been cut. Ford misses with a takedown and Vaa counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Ford is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Vaa lands a nice short elbow. Oh Ford is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Vaa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Ford to get to his feet. Vaa gets the takedown into side control. Vaa decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ford to his feet. Ford has his takedown stuffed so Vaa counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Vaa passes Ford's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Vaa decides to stand up. Ford gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Vaa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ford's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Ford. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ford is breathing heavily. Vaa content to stall in guard here. Vaa lands a couple of digs. Ford working a defensive guard here.
Vaa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Vaa gets to his feet. Ford looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's one minute gone in the round. A chopping leg kick lands by Vaa. Ford tries to sprawl but Vaa drives through with a takedown into half guard. Vaa slips a nice elbow through Ford's hands, connecting with Ford's forehead. Vaa working Ford over with strikes. Vaa seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Ford is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
