Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Balare! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lou Decker! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Balare tries for a takedown but Decker circles away easily and Decker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Balare shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Decker sprawls well. Decker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Balare gets slowly back to his feet. Balare with a poor takedown and Decker counters with a nice uppercut. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hector Balare. That's going to take a lot out of him. Balare drives through with a takedown into guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Balare controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Decker is striking from the bottom but Balare uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Balare is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Decker sees it coming and defends easily. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Balare in particular looking to stall. Decker trying to hold on to Balare's head to control him but Balare postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Balare is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Balare wants to take a breather but Decker is having none of it. Decker is looking to improve his position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Balare darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Decker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Balare. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Decker trying to control but Balare postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Balare is looking to take a break and control but Decker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Decker is controlling Balare's position as best he can from this difficult position. Balare passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Decker! Decker has given up his back.
Balare is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Decker has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Balare has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Decker taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Balare doesn't care though - he's delighted!
