Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo DeRosa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mance Rayder! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DeRosa stuffs the takedown attempt from Rayder. Rayder gets slowly back to his feet. DeRosa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and DeRosa wants it to stay on the feet. DeRosa scores with a nice body kick.
DeRosa throws a sloppy head kick and Rayder moves out of range easily. DeRosa throws a sloppy head kick and Rayder moves out of range easily. Rayder changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. DeRosa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. DeRosa wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Rayder taking a breather here. DeRosa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if DeRosa tries to get out of the position. DeRosa wants to control but Rayder postures up. DeRosa tries to get back to half guard but can't. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rayder working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. DeRosa is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rayder is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. DeRosa tries to improve position but can't. DeRosa is working hard here to advance position. DeRosa is being controlled here.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rayder swings and misses with a shot to the body and DeRosa counters with a body kick. DeRosa throws a head kick that half lands.
It looks like Mance Rayder has been cut. Rayder throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and DeRosa counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Rayder looks gassed! This has been an exciting period of action! DeRosa throws a nice inside leg kick. Mance Rayder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. DeRosa lands a head kick. Rayder smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
That's two minutes gone in the round. DeRosa lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Rayder looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? DeRosa is fending him off so far but Rayder persists. Nope, DeRosa circles away and we're back to standing. Leonardo DeRosa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mance Rayder. Rayder tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but DeRosa was well out of range. Poor timing from Rayder. Good leg kick by DeRosa there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
DeRosa feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Rayder collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!
