Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Manny Ribera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Manny Ribera! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz has managed to clinch.
Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ribera throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Diaz sees it coming and avoids it easily. Diaz throws a lazy right hand but Ribera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Ribera looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ribera tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Diaz darts in and clinches Ribera up against the cage. Diaz swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ribera is pushing Diaz up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Ribera manages to break the clinch.
Ribera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Diaz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Ribera tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ribera throws a lazy right hand but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz clinches up against the cage. Ribera tries to pull guard but Diaz holds him up against the cage and eventually Ribera drops back down to his feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Manny Ribera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ribera jumps guard but Diaz stands there with Ribera around his waist. Ribera gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ribera is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Diaz is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Ribera is keeping busy. Diaz tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A quick uppercut on the inside from Ribera. Ribera jumps guard but Diaz turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. A short uppercut from Ribera. Ribera blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ribera is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Ribera tries to stall but Diaz uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Ribera lands a hook to the side of the head. Ribera lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Diaz doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ribera lands with a left to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz lands on the inside with an uppercut. Ribera tries for a takedown but Diaz manages to get underhooks.
Diaz misses with a short punch on the inside. Ribera escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ribera steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Diaz. Ribera moves in looking to clinch but Diaz pushes him off. Ribera is looking to clinch. Ribera misses the shot to the body. Nick Diaz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ribera looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Horrible takedown by Ribera or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz which made him look bad. Ribera tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Diaz pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Ribera thows a body shot but no joy. Diaz clinches up against the cage. Ribera blocks an uppercut.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ribera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A telegraphed right hand from Diaz misses the target. Diaz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Diaz misses with a hook from the clinch. A shot in the inside from Diaz. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Diaz. Diaz wants to break free but Ribera has control.
Ribera successfully pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Ribera is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diaz defends well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss. Ribera looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there. Ribera working for a triangle but Diaz defends it easily.
Ribera is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diaz defends well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ribera is on top in guard.
Riberais looking to pass into half guard but Diaz pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Diaz is in guard. Ribera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Diaz wants to get up but he can't break Ribera's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Diaz is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Ribera has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Diaz is looking to defend but Ribera has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Diaz! Ribera pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Diaz taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Manny Ribera! Manny Ribera is the new lightweight champion!
