PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lilb ss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daryl Palumbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palumbo has chosen Glassjaw - Cosmopolitan Blood Loss as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Lilb ss has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lilb ss seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lilb ss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daryl Palumbo!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ss tries for a takedown but Palumbo circles away easily
and Palumbo counters with a series of strikes. ss will be more careful next time no doubt.

ss closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Palumbo.
ss has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Palumbo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
ss drops down looking for an ankle pick but Palumbo pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lilb ss. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Palumbo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
ss closes the distance and clinches up with Palumbo, looking for a takedown. ss pushes Palumbo against the cage but Palumbo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
ss will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Palumbo leaves ss with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
ss fails to land the takedown.
Palumbo tests ss's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Lilb ss has been cut.
ss has a takedown stuffed.

That's one minute gone in the round.
ss shoots in and drives through. Palumbo sprawls well.
Lilb ss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
ss gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Palumbo counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts ss off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Palumbo follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but ss was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Daryl Palumbo!
Daryl Palumbo really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that ATTICUS BLACK logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
