Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fidel Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castro's entrance music is Carlos Puebla - Y En Eso Llego Fidel. A fine choice. Rua has chosen Don't Talk To Strangers as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fidel Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
21 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Rua!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua lands with a right hand.
Both fighters circling a little - Rua finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Rua throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Castro on the side of the head.
Castro slaps away a takedown attempt from Rua, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Castro has closed the distance and engaged Rua in a clinch.
Rua breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Castro lands an overhand right.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Castro.
Castro feints a jab promting Rua to slip. Castro then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rua slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rua throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rua scores with a decent looking hook.
Rua throws a low kick, looking for Castro's leg but Castro calmly moves out of range.
Rua looks to score with a jab to the body but Castro is just out of range.
Castro blocks a jab.
Castro fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rua manages to avoid it.

Castro moves away from the strike by Rua.
Rua shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Castro as he avoids it easily.

Rua defending well as Castro loads up on a big left hand.

Castro avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Castro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rua paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rua.
Rua lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Fidel Castro has been cut.
Castro takes a swing at Rua's ribcage but misses.
Rua gets a clinch.
Rua wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Castro has him pressed against the cage.
Castro blocks an elbow strike.
Castro misses with a hook from the clinch.
Rua misses with an elbow over the top.

Rua with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Castro gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rua regains guard.
Rua controls Castro momentarily but Castro frees himself.
Castro connects with a couple of short punches.
Castro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rua looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Castro puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua is not content to let Castro control the position.
Rua keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Castro is trying to control the action in half guard but Rua is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Castro stalling away here and it's allowed Rua to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Rua is trying to keep Castro in close.

Castro throwing strikes from guard but Rua blocks nicely.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Castro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rua holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Pedro Rua wasn't active enough on the ground.
Rua shoots in but Castro avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fidel Castro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Rua.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Fidel Castro will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Castro moves out of range as Rua strikes.
Castro's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rua under the eye.
Castro wants to clinch up but Rua keeps it at a distance.
Castro rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rua moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Castro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fighters circling - Castro throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rua looks to land a body kick but Castro moved away.
Castro lands a right hook to the body.
Castro steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rua.
Rua drops his hands momentarily and Castro takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Castro lands with a right hand.
Rua throws a right hand that Castro ducks under and follows up with a left that Castro also avoids with ease.
Castro looks to land a right hand but Rua moved out of range.
Castro displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rua throws out the jab.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rua crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Castro - the referee stops the clock and Rua gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Castro. Rua manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Castro tries to clinch there but Rua circles away.
Rua swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fidel Castro is winning the standup battle so far.
Rua tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Castro fails with a takedown attempt.
Rua goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Rua gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Castro to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Castrois looking to pass into half guard but Rua pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rua is in guard.
Rua gets to his feet. Castro looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Castro misses with a body shot.
Rua throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Castro throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Rua cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Castro pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rua throws a head kick but Castro moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Castro throws a solid leg kick but Rua takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Castro.

Rua is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Castro shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rua defends it nicely.

Rua misses with a wild combination.
Rua throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rua takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Castro is looking to clinch.
Castro lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rua swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Castro closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rua did well to prevent Castro getting side control.

Castro slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rua ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Rua lands with a hook. Castro tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Castro, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Fidel Castro thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
