Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jay Garcia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Malcolm Master! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Master doesn't succeed with the takedown and Garcia counters with a takedown into side control. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Garcia wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Master, who protects the arm well. Garcia is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Master knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Master gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Garcia trying to control but he's not successful this time. Master is trying to escape the mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia looking to control but Master is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Garcia pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Garcia tries to control but Master wriggling away. Master slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Master looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Master regains full guard. Nicely done. Garcia really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Master is looking for a triangle but Garcia pushes his legs off easily.
Master is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Garcia looking to pass the guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garcia avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Garcia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Master swivels though and keeps the full guard. Master looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Garcia looking to pass the guard. Garcia is working hard here to advance position. Master escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Garcia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Master working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Garcia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Garcia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Garcia advances position into side control! Master manages to get back to half guard. Garcia trying to mount his opponent but Master defends it. Garcia works his way into full mount! Master is in all sorts of trouble here.
Garcia working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Master turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Garcia off and cradles Master's limp body as Garcia celebrates with his corner.
