PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and We Rollin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rollin has chosen White and Nerdy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raje Malapitan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, We Rollin!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rollin has managed to clinch.
Rollin misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Rollin lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Malapitan or not.
Malapitan is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Rollin slows down the pace here.
Malapitan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rollin after a bit of a struggle.
Rollin lands with a light punch inside.
Malapitan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Malapitan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rollin fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raje Malapitan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Malapitan shoots in for a takedown but Rollin shows good takedown defense.
Rollin fails to land with a series of punches.
Rollin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Rollin gets underhooks to prevent Malapitan's takedown attempt.

Rollin gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Rollin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Malapitan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. We Rollin wasn't active enough on the ground.
Left hook, right uppercut from Rollin.
Rollin fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Malapitan is out of range.
Malapitan throws a jab but it's blocked by Rollin.

Malapitan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rollin to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Malapitan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Malapitan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rollin is one step ahead there.

Rollin drops back looking for a leg! Malapitan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Malapitan manages to kick Rollin off! Rollin jumps back into Malapitan's guard.

Rollin pushes down on Malapitan's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Rollin is trying to work for a kimura but Malapitan is defending well.
Malapitan is staying active underneath Rollin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rollin is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Malapitan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rollin's guard.
Malapitan passes Rollin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Malapitan wants to take a breather but Rollin is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malapitan is working for a submission of some sort.
Rollin works his way to full guard. Good work.
Rollin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Malapitan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rollin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rollin has escaped and now he's on top!

We Rollin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Rollin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Raje Malapitan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rollin shoots in but no luck this time.
A looping hook to the body misses from Malapitan. Rollin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rollin shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Malapitan takes one on the button.
Malapitan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rollin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Malapitan somewhat.
Rollin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Malapitan smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Malapitan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Rollin slips under a jab from Malapitan.
Malapitan looks to score with a jab to the body but Rollin is just out of range.
Malapitan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rollin's head.
Rollin misses with a body shot.
A slow jab from Malapitan misses its intended target.
Malapitan misses with a body shot.
Malapitan misses with a two punch combination.
Malapitan fails with the takedown.

Rollin goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Malapitan is on top in guard.

Malapitan looking to sit in guard and control but Rollin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

You can see the frustration on Malapitan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rollin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Malapitan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rollin lands an elbow.
Malapitan tries to improve position but can't.

Rollin is trying to get an arm triangle but Malapitan is defending well.
We Rollin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Rollin looking to control but instead Malapitan has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Rollin is trying to control the action in half guard but Malapitan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Malapitan tries to roll over but Rollin keeps him under control.

And that's the end of the fight!
We Rollin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rollin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
